A chapter of the Romance Writers of America®
Morgan Q. O'Reilly
Born in New Orleans, raised in California, Morgan O’Reilly has lived in Alaska since 1977. She has an English degree from Mills College. After raising a son, she’s now fortunate to spend her days engaged in daydreaming and turning those dreams into romantic novels and novellas featuring damsels in distress rescued by their own brains and hunky heroes. She is also lucky to be a stay at home puppy mama with her three year old yellow Lab, Neo, close by her side.
Neva Post creates playful character driven fiction. Her books feature strong, smart heroines and dependable heroes. Neva loves a happy escape and thinks that everyday life could benefit from a song and dance number, even though she can’t hold a tune and is the person in gym class who goes left when everyone else turned right. On movie night, a Buffy re-run or a romantic comedy with enough humor to also entertain her husband, is Neva’s favorite. Neva is currently finishing a young adult paranormal romance trilogy.
Sandy Shacklett grew up in Anchorage alongside one brother and three sisters. Hunting and fishing were regular summer activities while winters were spent snowmachining and downhill skiing. Horses and reading were year-round passions that have remained constant through many life changes. Working for a real estate office, then an oilfield support company, getting married and having a son all while breeding, boarding and showing horses on the side. Moving to Saudi Arabia for a short time, then back to Alaska are life experiences that helped shaped her life and loves. Self-employment appealed to her, in part so she could be home for her son, so she started publishing the Alaska Horse Journal. That lasted for 15 years, until she moved back to Twin View Farm, where she resides today along with her husband, two very large Irish Wolfhounds, three short-legged Munchkin cats, and numerous horses. Her reading can only be described as eclectic, ranging from science fiction, fantasy, and historic, but all with romance. Contemporary romance is the genre’ she is currently writing.
Jackie Ivie has written several winning historical romances with Kensington Publishing, added some edgy historicals with her Brocade Collection...but then she discovered paranormals. And vampires. Dark angels. Time travel. Nowadays, she can usually be found researching, writing, and dreaming about the Vampire Assassin League, a series where only the luckiest vampires find their mate; or the Chronicles of the Hunter where dark angels get another chance, or her newest, a time travel series called the Portals of Time.
I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, but knew Alaska would be my heart's home as soon as I stepped off the plane way back in the early 1980's. Living in Alaska is not for everyone, but it is definitely for me! A pilot myself, many of my stories involve aviation, strong female characters and the cultures and legends of my wild, untamed Alaska. I write romantic suspense, paranormal romance and historical romance and enjoy weaving intricate plots with current events or cultural legends or myths. When I'm not writing, I can be found teaching women's self defense seminars and martial arts, scuba diving in tropical locales, flying around the country or just getting away to some unique paradise with my hubby. You can find my books at your favorite digital provider. Both digital downloads and, for the more traditional reader, hard copies are also available. You can take a sneak peak, or read the first chapter of all of my novels on my website at:
Alaska-grown author, Tam Linsey builds post-apocalyptic worlds, usually with a twist of romance. Add in Cannibals, Immortals, and Amish and one reader says, “It sounds like utter craziness but I assure you that it all works.” When Tam’s not smashing her head against her keyboard (also known as writing), you can find her in the garden or the kitchen prepping for the apocalypse. She is graciously allowed space to live and write by her house rabbit, Abigail. (In spite of her prepping, she has determined rabbits are not food.)
Jennifer Bernard is a USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romance. Her books have been called “an irresistible reading experience” full of “quick wit and sizzling love scenes.” A graduate of Harvard and former news promo producer, she left big city life in Los Angeles for true love in Alaska, where she now lives with her husband and stepdaughters. She still hasn’t adjusted to the cold, so most often she can be found cuddling with her laptop and a cup of tea. No stranger to book success, she also writes erotic novellas under a naughty secret name that she’s happy to share with the curious.
Hi, my name is Maxine Mansfield and I write fantasy erotic romances for the scarlet line of THE WILD ROSE PRESS. I love this far northern state of Alaska where the summer days are long and the winter nights even longer. I have one very special man, his three equally special children, and our five delightful grandchildren in my life. Not to mention a very bossy African Grey parrot named Gabriel. Oh, and Gnomes! Many, many gnomes.
I write stories set in on a planet that resembles Alaska -- men go fishing, and women run everything else. Humor aside, this fictional planet has a surface covered entirely in ocean, fjords, mountains, and glaciers. On Fenria, men tend to die off in boating accidents leaving control of government to the more numerous women. The situation makes a wonderful canvas for exploring relationships between men and women and their relationship to technology and nature. My writing is science-fiction with romantic elements. I’m currently working on my third novel manuscript.
I grew up Colorado and have a BA in Arts and Humanities from Colorado State University. After moving to Alaska I earned a BFA in sculpture from University of Anchorage Alaska. I consider my writing to be a form of sculpture -- a monument so big that it contains an entire planet which can only be viewed through the magic of words. Tielle St. Clare
Tielle (pronounced "teal") St. Clare has had life-long love of romance novels. She began reading romances in the 7th grade when she discovered Victoria Holt novels and began writing romances at the age of 16 (during Trigonometry, if the truth be told). During her senior year in high school, the class dressed up as what they would be in twenty years-Tielle dressed as a romance writer.
When not writing romances, Tielle has worked in public relations and video production for the past 20 years. Tielle moved to Alaska when she was seven years old in 1972 when her father was transferred with the military.
Tielle believes romances should be hot and sexy with a great story and fun characters.
As a bestselling author, Boone Brux’s books range from high fantasy to humorous paranormal. Boone has lived all over the world, finally settling in the icy region of Alaska, where she writes full time. Always looking for the next adventure, it’s not unusual to find her traversing the remotest parts of the Alaskan bush. No person or escapade is off limits when it comes to weaving real life experiences into her books.
DeNise Woodbury, is a fan of happily ever after. She reads, gardens, and writes as much as she can. Based on her notes there are several more books to write.
Welcome to Alaska Romance Writers of America! I love to write many variations of Romance, including Suspense novels, Historical Sagas, Time Travel and Ancient History. I'm currently writing "Thrown Under the Bus" - an irreverent comedy & 'who-dun-it' about an 'off-the-wall' bunch of elderly Residents living in a Retirement Community for 'B' list celebrities. When not writing, I've pursued other artistic fields and have artistic works that have traveled as far as Europe, sold through local art galleries in Alaska over the years. Trained as an AutoCAD draft designer and a commercial embroidery machine programmer & operator, I've enjoyed a life of creativity in many forms and loved the craft of Writing since childhood. Please check in with me.
E.M. Shue, I write hot & steamy romance thrillers. Currently working on a new exciting series, The Woman of Securities International. Elizabeth Allyn-Dean is an author of paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and fantasy stories. Always prone to daydreaming and flights of fancy, Elizabeth has hoarded an extensive collection of her fiction works and is now working on getting them out into the world. Previously an archaeologist by education and profession, Elizabeth now works as an editor and technical writer. When not working or writing, Elizabeth loves finding other ways to express her creativity, gardening, beachcombing for interesting treasures, indulging her inner geek, and playing with her two dogs and cat. For the last twenty years, she has called Alaska home—traveling, adventuring, enjoying gorgeous scenery, and meeting interesting people.
Lynn Lovegreen grew up in Alaska, and still lives there. She taught for twenty years before retiring to make more time for writing. She enjoys her friends and family, reading, and hitting targets with a cowboy action shooting club. Cheryl is an International Beauty Queen, a former singer/songwriter, and one of Murfreesboro, Tennessee’s 15 Most Beautiful People (2009). She was raised in a suburb just outside Washington, D.C. She is the youngest of seventeen children and credits her artistic background to her sister Linda, who taught her to read at the age of three! Her sister was set to graduate from The Duke Ellington School For The Arts and began taking Cheryl with her during her final two months of school. Cheryl was immersed in artistic and academic activities every Friday and she was only four years old when she sat in on a senior English literature class with her sister. The teacher’s name was Ms. Brown and she changed Cheryl's life forever when she asked her to read aloud to the class, "The Road Not Taken", by Robert Frost. Ten years later, Cheryl attended Duke Ellington as a Violin Major/Piano Minor and Ms. Brown was her Freshman English teacher and Ms. Matthews was her violin teacher.
Now, after a long absence, Cheryl has finally returned to her true first love. The written word. She completed her first novel, a contemporary multi-cultural, in 2016. Cheryl now resides in majestic Alaska with her sexy husband. He is her knight in shining armor and the inspiration behind her novels! Their four children are in college.
